Frank's Story

Life After graduation I went to West Point but resigned after Plebe year.I then volunteered for U.S. Army Special Forces and eventually went to Vietnam. I was thinking of making it a career but after being wounded a second time,I realized I sucked at being a professional soldier so after my tour was up I returned to school. Eventually obtained my M.D. degree from UCLA in '75. After doing a residency in Internal Medicine and Emergency Medicine I accepted a faculty appointment as an Asst. Prof. of Medicine. I loved the teaching and research aspect but hated the administrative and political part of the job. I left the academic sector and went into private practice doing Emergency Medicine with a group in Long Beach, Ca. (same group headed by Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald of "Fatal...Expand for more
Vision" fame). I left the group in '85 and moved to a small town in Wyoming to experience grass roots country medicine and it damn near killed me. Broke my back in a skydiving accident and complications from surgery left me paralyzed in both legs for over a year. With the grace of God, physical therapy, and support from my dear wife, Barbara, I can now walk unassisted. After Wyoming we moved to Reno, Nv. where I practiced my other specialty, Internal Medicine. I eventually moved my practice to Las Vegas in '94 but we elected to reside in Coronado with my commuting every week. Not as bad as some people think. I hope this finds everyone well and look forward to hearing from old friends and acquaintances. Regards, Frank Frank died December 20 2011. He is acutely missed.
