CLASS OF 1967

Fred's Story

Life revised 4/30/18 I attended Compton Junior College for 2 years. I was recruited to play basketball at Cal Poly Pomona. I was there for 5 years. I dropped classes in 70' and received draft papers for the service. I accidently broke my wrist in college and was deferred. While attending Cal Poly, I worked part time with Millers Outpost Distribution Center in Ontario. I worked there for 23 years. I went through downsizing in 95'. I'm currently working for Timberland at their Distribution Facility in Ontario. Bottom line, I've been in warehouse management over 43 years. I played basketball and volleyball at Cal Poly. I traveled with club teams in those sports as well as fast pitch softball, slow pitch softball and bowling for many years after college. My doctor strongly suggested to stop all the rough sports. So, I took up golf in the mid 90's. I married in 78'. Kathy and I just completed 40 years of marriage. We weren't lucky in having children. We have nephews, nieces, godchildren and foriegn exhange students that bring joy to our lives. ...Expand for more
I was a volunteer little league coach for about 6 years in the late 80's and early 90's. In 2005 and 2006, I had the opportunity to be a volunteer high school volleyball girls coach in Rialto. I was on a natural high for 3 1/2 months for two seasons. I was an assistant coach for the boys basketball program at Packinghouse Christian High schooI in Redlands in 2009. I was a volunteer golf instructor for a disabled adult group near San Jacinto in 2011. I've connected with many classmates through this site and it has been a lot of fun. Please feel free to send me a note to say howdy anytime. Hope to hear from others. I've been participating every year in the March of Dimes walkathon since 1982. I've gone through many injuries during the last several years but I'm planning on walking in 2018. If all goes well, plan to walk until I'm 70 and then see how it goes. I was lucky enough to attend our 50th reunion and had a great time. Hope all is well with anyone who reads my story. Hope this update finds you all well. Old basketball/baseball Fred
