Fred's Story

Life I enlisted in the U.S. Navy right after graduation from Rincon. I was trained as a Hospital Corpsman. Initially stationed at the US Naval Hospital in Yokosuka, Japan for 18 months, I was transferred to the Fleet Marine Force, and trained as a combat medic,. I served with the 3rd Marine Division in South Viet Nam and earned 3 Purple Hearts. After discharge from the Navy I began my career as a paramedic with the Los Angeles City Fire Department. I served as a field paramedic for 10 years, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Supervisor for five years, EMS District Commander for five years. During my tenure with the LAFD I earned a BA Degree in management from the University of Redlands. After retiring from the Fire Department I became Vice President of Medical Priority Consultants, Inc. in Salt Lake City, Utah and provided EMS and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) management consulting services for EMS and 9-1-1 agencies throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe. n 1992 I became the Statewide Trauma System coordinator for the State of Connecticut and oversaw the implementation of the statewide trauma care system. I then served for two years as the Chief of Regulations and Standards and Assistant Director of the Connecticut Office of EMS. I moved to Washington, D.C. in 2003 and founded my own EMS/EMD consulting company, EMS System Solutions, LLC. I employ 11 experts in all facets of EMS, EMD and 9-1-1. We provide expert consulting services for EMS provider agencies, 9-1-1 Centers, Fire & Police Departments and governmental agencies at the local, state and Federal level. In 2009 I decided to move back to Tucson. I've been married three times (the first one doesn't count ... I was young and stupid). The second one lasted 17 years, the third one thirteen. My son Keith, my only child, died in 2012 at age 40.. When I finally decide to stop the madness I plan to build my dream home on my family;s cattle ranch in Dos Cabezas, AZ.
