Fred's Story

Fred Tovar is the Director of Student Affairs, Assistant Director of Admissions, and the Pre-Health Advisor for the Stanford School of Medicine, Primary Care.
Fred was recently elected onto the Gilroy Unified School District Board in Gilroy, CA. November 2008.

Fred was elected on to the San Jose/Evergreen College District Board from 2002 to 2006.
Back in 2004 Mr. Tovar was elected President for the California Association of Latino Community College Trustees and also as a member of the (CCCT) California Community College Trustee Board.
He has served on the California Community College League Advisory Committee on Education Services.
He also continues to serve on the Region IV EOPS Consortium.
Fred graduated from Saint Marys College in Moraga, CA.

Fred serves as a mentor for the Enlace, Puente and Mesa Programs.
Some of Fred's other responsibilities at the School of Medicine are: a member of the Stanford School of Medicine PA Program Admissions Committee, the Stanford School of Medicine Minority and Disadvantaged Admissions Advisory Panel (MDAP), the Stanford HCOP(SPSP) Admissions Committee, and the Stanford MCAT Academy Admissions Committee as well as many local and national political committee's.
Fred has been working with and advising undergraduate and graduate students for the past nine years. He has and continues traveling throughout the country working with premedical and medical students, conducting admission workshops, leadership conferences, as well as recruiting educationally and economically disadvantaged students to pursue a career in medicine at Stanford University
