Fred's Story
Life
After college, I spent 6 months active duty, then 8 years in reserves
in U.S. Army Signal Corps. Then 8 years in Tool and Production
Planning unit in Boeing in Renton, Wn. Started when first 707 was in
final assy. Worked on 727 production planning. Was a senior Tooling
engineer on 737. Oversaw all production planning for metal bonded
assemblies. That included all fuselage skins, all control surfaces,
wing leading edge panels, wing trailing edge panels, most of the floor
beams, and fuselage strngers.
Then worked at Tiline in Albany, Ore. They were a startup company
that was capable of making the largest titanium casting in the world.

p their production control system, did all the plant engineering
including designing a new computer controlled titanium melting furnace
Did all their technical presentations to companies all over the U.S.
to make special titanium castings for them. They made castings that
weighed up to 1500 lbs.
I then work for Columbia Steel Castings in Portland, Oregon for 11
years. Worked in their engineering dept mainly in plant facilities and
designing specialized equipment and machines. Overseeing constr.
of plant building expansion and modification.
At age 65 I retired and now work full time on building our new home
in the hills 2 miles west of Scappoose, Oregon
