Glenn's Story

Life Still can't spell my name right. Must have bumped my head too often...(I'll never admit to being "dumb as a stump") : O) (Posted circa: 1996-1997) Seriously, after 37 years I have finally come to grips with the deamons of survivor gilt that have haunted me over the passing of Richard Harrot during the Tet offensive of 1968. Richard was a fine example of Falcon pride and an outstanding exemplary Marine. He made the ultimate sacrifice and gave up all of his tomorrows so that you and I, our children and grand children could sleep in peace knowing that our world was safe from tirany. While his sacrifice was not unique in the hollowed halls of those who have sacrifice before him, at least that sacrifice was his own. till with us, know that the warrior will never truly die until his name is forgotten. My children and grand children know Richards' name and what sacrifices he and others made so that they may enjoy the freedom that flows from the only currency that is accepted as payment in exchange for liberty- that currency is the blood of Patriots. Richard was not the only Dunne graduate to hear his brothers and sisters cries for freedom all the way from South East Asia. Nor was he the only who volunteered to stand up, stick his finger in the fan, and make the ultimate sacrifice. Also remember the names Of David Calabria USMC(class of 65) and his classmate Everett Valendenham USA (class of 65). The families of these young men, like many before and since, placed an extraordinary sacrifice on the alter of freedom.
