Gabrielle's Story
Life
I went to Kingston High until January 1986. I was married to Scott DuBois for about 10 1/2 years, and have three beautiful children, ages 22, 21 and 18. I graduated from NHCTC-Stratham as a member of Phi Theta Kappa and with an Associates Degree in Nursing and currently work at a hospital in the recovery unit. I was married on June 10, 2000 to a wonderful man named, Patrick Morse. On June 11, 2003, I had a baby girl, named Jillian Ann!
College
I started off at Horry-Georgetown in Conway, South Carolina. In August of '98', I started their nursing program. In October, I was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa. I had maintained a 4.0GPA for two semesters. In December, I went to New Hampshire, took their final, and was accepted into their nursing program. I moved up shortly thereafter. I graduated from their program May 20, 2000.
Workplace
After I graduated, I started working at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH on their med-surg unit. I moved 3 years ago t...Expand for more
o the PACU (post-anesthesia care unit), after being on the med-surg unit for over 5 years.
Military
I wasn't in the military, but my ex-husband was/is. I was married to him for 10 1/2 years. I wouldn't really give advice to people looking to join, but I can tell you that as a parent, my children were in three different school systems by OCTOBER one year. The moving all over the place was very difficult, and we had never lived in any one place longer than three years! Financially, we always struggled, so my suggestion, I suppose, would be to join, reap the benefits that they can offer you for an education, and then get a job in the civilian world! I did make some life long friends because of the military, and if it hadn't been for that, I wouldn't be married to my husband!!! I also got to live in Germany for 3 years, and that was the coolest place I've ever lived!!! So, just like anything else, it has it's pros and cons, and it all depends on what you're looking for.
