Gail's Story

Life After high school, I worked and eventually earned a bachelor's degree from the University of New Orleans, a Masters in Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health, and a Juris Doctor from Tulane Law School. Immediately after law school, I spent a year as a judicial law clerk to the late Judge John Minor Wisdom on the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit in New Orleans. The following year, I served as a law clerk to the late Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court of the United States. It was her fourth year on the Supreme Court. d, CT, I became a law professor at the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill. In July 2006, I became the dean at the University of Kansas Law School in Lawrence, KS. On July 1, 2010, I became dean at the University of Iowa College of Law. I stepped down as dean in June 2018 when my husband retired. I retired the following year. After retirement, we moved to Durham, North Caroline, to be near my sister and her family. I have been married to Naurang Agrawal, a physician from Bombay, India, since 1975. He spent his career teaching and practicing in the field of gastroenterology. Over the years, we have traveled around the world and lived in 5 different states. I could not have imagined the life we’ve lived, so far, when I was in high school.
