Gail's Story

Life 4/27/07 Hey Everyone! Hard to believe it has been 30 years! Where does the time go? I married classmate Rick Dozier in 1985. We have 2 children (both boys). We have lived in Old Hickory for 22 years (since we married) and are very happy! School I have many happy memories of McGavock. I guess I would have to say the teacher who inspired me the most was Charlotte McBee (biology). She instilled in me a love for science. Before having her, I didn't care for it. She was just a great teacher and a classy lady... I wish all teachers were like her. My happiest memories were definitely the band memories... gosh we had some fun and memorable times... winning the state championship all three years, the Friday night football games, the band trips, and competitions. Yes, if I had to do it all over again, I would! College I went to MTSU after graduation from high school. I definitely had some "unique" roommates. m class one day to an empty room and a note on the door that read, "Sorry I missed you -got married last night"! Then there was the one who never went to class. She spent most of her time going to Florida. Needless to say she flunked out! About all I remember in college was studying, studying, and studying. I was in pre-vet and my main goal in life was to get into veterinary school. I was pretty homesick and went home every chance I got. I was dating former classmate Rick Dozier who was going to David Lipscomb College, and so I went home every weekend to see him (and to work). After MTSU, I went to UT College of Veterinary Medicine. Hardest thing I have ever done and will ever do in my life. It was a long 3 years of studying and trying to survive the rigorous vet school curriculum. I survived and am glad I did it, but don't know if I would do it again, knowing what I know now. Very, very stressful program. Graduated in 1985 and got married to Rick about 3 months later.
