Gail's Story
Life
After graduation, I moved to Fredericksburg, VA and I am still here! I worked in a busy ER for 13 years and then in the Recovery Room for 2 years at our hospital. I am now the Manager of Forensic Services for the hospital. I have a staff of forensic nurses but I also take "on-call" to perform forensic evaluations for victims of violence. I provide community education on violence prevention and spend a lot of time in court where I testify as an expert witness.
I am married to a police officer (detective)-(2nd marriage). I have 3 children and 7 grandchildren, all of whom live in this area.
My husband and I stay busy with kayaking, skiing, and family activities. We recently bought a camper and have been traveling and enjoying the great outdoors.
I would love to hear from some of my fellow classmates from Antioch High School!
College

, but has been very rewarding for me. I am now doing what I really enjoy--helping others in the nursing profession. I have continued my education in others areas of nursing such as forensics. I look forward to one day retiring and traveling with my husband.
Workplace
I moved to Virginia after high school and found my first job at the Telephone Company as a service rep. until I started my family. A few years later, I was secretary for the vice president of our local college. A few years after that I decided that I wanted to pursue a nursing career. I attended our local community college and enrolled in their nursing program--graduated in 1989. I have been working as an R.N. since then. I worked 13 years in the ER and then transferred to the recovery room for a few years. I love the position I now have as Manager of Forensic Services. I hope to retire in about 4 years. I love my chosen profession and look forward to retiring and spending more time with my husband and family.
