Gail's Story
Oh, where to begin? High school was such a long time ago!
In the 60's I was a jewelry maker and traveled all over the country in a flower-painted van with my husband, selling beaded jewelry and peace signs. We spent time in the California desert, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Memphis, the Everglades, Washington, D.C. and Greenwich Village, finally settling in Golden, CO. We were in Memphis the day Martin Luther KIng was shot and that day is burned in my memory.
Eventually we made our way back to CA where my daughter was born in 1971. I went back to school and got my B.A. from Humboldt State and then an M.L.S. (Library Science) from the University of AZ. I worked as a librarian for many years: on a bookmobile in CO, a school librarian on...Expand for more
an Indian reservation in Northern CA, a research librarian for the federal government at an archeological library in AZ, a children's librarian in WA and OR, finally as a library administrator in Medford, OR.
I retired in 2007 and moved to Vancouver, WA (just across the river from Portland, OR. My daughter and her family live nearby, and I have a 9-year-old grandson. I'm an amateur photographer and like to travel. Since retiring I've been to Ireland, Hawaii, Nicaragua, Provence, Venice, Tuscany, Cinque Terre, and the Four Corners area of the U.S., always with camera in hand. When I'm not taking photos I hike in the gorgeous Pacific NW or dabble in painting and a little writing.
And somehow, 50 years have passed! Hard to believe.
