Gail's Story
Life
Memories of Verdun: long bus rides from Chaumont AFB with Bob H, Moe, Ted H., my great roommate--Helen Prince (anyone know where she is?), along with many others; seeing WWII pillboxes from the dorm windows; faces I will remember forever (they never age) but names fall into the category of 'senior moment'; all day trip to Luxembourg and military cemetery; study time and lights out (yeah, right); and starting and ending the day with the old 45 rpms cranked up as high as they would go with Frankie Valli blasting out SHERRY BABY, WONÂT YOU COME OUT TONIGHT.
From Verdun:
To Wiesbaden, Germany; then a small town in northern Michigan; to Michigan State University (BA) and Central Michigan University (MA); taught school for 32 years (no question about my lack of sanity now) back at that same small town in northern Michigan (Harrisville). Loved it.
In 1970, I married another Air Force brat---John Heath---when his family dropped him off at Wurtsmith AFB, Oscoda, Michigan. (Yes, gals---he was the C-U-T-E lifeguard at the Air Force beach). We have three children: John E.(33 SIN...Expand for more
GLE, the professional student, ready to teach school, and still looking for the perfect girl). Jason (26 multiply impaired sweetheart who lives at home with us) and baby Sara (24 Â who is halfway through law school, has her pilots license and talking med school). Wonder if I will ever be a grandmother. Yep--sure am proud of the youngsters--can't you tell?
While teaching did a lot of freelance writing. Wrote and illustrated two childrenÂs books and had so much fun that I took early retirement to become a full time author. I started a publishing house, CONDOR PUBLISHING, INC., in 2000 and am enjoying publishing, agenting, and promoting other authors and their work(mainly good clean westerns along with children's books). But, retirement didn't stick. I was asked to become a Writing Strategist for Clark County Schools in Las Vegas, Nevada.
