Mary's Story

Hey Y'all, I do hope that God and life have been kind to you and yours over the years. Me? Life is good. Not quite what I had imagined a lifetime ago...but good none the less! Not real sure how this "Story Wizard" is supposed to be helpful, but I'm gonna run with it anyway. I would hope & pray that old friends would remember me as kind hearted...although I'm not so sure I was always. To those that I have hurt please accept my most sincere apology. I always wanted to be a wife & mother when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were pretty darn right. If you count homeschooling as an additional occupation, you can count me in on that as well. A decision that I/we never looked back upon. Idea #3 from "The Story Wizard"...favoritve way to relax? A good glass of Merlot while melting away in a bubble bath...if the Merlot is good enough I don't even need the bubbles;) Wildest thing I ever did in high school? I already went to confession for that one! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have Strabucks , a killer pair of pumps, and a phone call from home to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My hero is my husband. Without him I would not, could not be the woman I am today. I have been blest for 26 plus years. I know it sounds like an insane cliche...but we truly are Soulmates. I am now blissfully living "out in the country". We are living at the base of Palomar Mt. A mere 5 acres but it feels like heaven. A dream I've had since a little girl. Although my parents aren't real sure where I got it from! We have chickens (fresh eggs), pigs & a steer, (currently in the freezer). I know more more about the raising, slaughtering & preserving of an animal than I ever could have thought. Wouldn't trade it for anything. The fires of last October hit us hard. Our son & daughter-in-laws, as well as my parents homes were completely destroyed. Somehow, by the grace of God our home was saved! Do I want to leave here? Not a chance in hell! I'm happy right where I am! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Tom Cooper, because it seems as if he has vanished from this Earth:( Obsessions??? Love, faith, family, friendships...if I say truth & justice it's over the top right?!?! So I'll just stick with love, faith, family & friendships. Life's biggest surprise, without a doubt, was my husband becoming disabled. Didn't see it coming. Not at all. Freak accident...crazy actually...didn't make sense.(still doesn't) Most definately, others have far greater difficulties than we...but when the one you love more than life itself is hurt your entire life changes. It's true what they say, "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." If I could improv...Expand for more
e my home, I'd remodel my kitchen, (it's so not big enough) and add on a root cellar. My dream home would be on the river!!!!. My kids have taught me the gift of forgiveness & unconditional love. MS.Rhodes would be the teacher I would most like to see again. Can't put my finger on why, but she pops up in my mind from time to time. The whole, "If you won a $100,000,000.00" thing is beyond my relm of thought. I haven't a clue on what I'd do with it. Never did the dorm, Greek system or campus thing. Never really had the desire. True happiness takes place in the arms of those I love. If that happens to take place at the river all the better;) My current age is 48. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be REALLY REALLY OLD. I was so completely misguided. Working hard, to me means giving my all. I aspire to do that in all things. Not always successful, but I give it my best. First crush? That was WAY back in kindergarden...I have no idea. High school? I am SO not telling!!!!! My best friend would tell you I'm compassionate, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as reserved. Stlye???? I think over the years I've chosen the classic look over the trendy look. I mean after all...just who are those clothes designed for?!?!?! NOT my 48 year old body. I have done a lot of living in those years! I NEED something to camofloge all those bumps, bruises, sins etc. What else can I say?! Weirdest job? Haven't had too many. I'm thinking maybe my first one...making heating & airconditioning filters. Nothing exciting. I share my home with Hubby, Son #2 and daughter-in-law, wife of Son # 1 (who is is Iraq at this moment), which I find fabulous. 'nough said;). No trophies on the mantel. Not my kinda thing. Biggest blessing? Renewing our wedding vows after 25 years in front of our sons and family and friends. Life doesn't get any better than that. Do-over...I don't know. If I did it over would I be the person I am today? Throughout all the ups and downs..I think I'll keep things the way they were/are. In 10 years, I hope to be above the ground. I'm going to get there by ????? I have no idea!. Let's not use the term "oldest friend". That conjures up thoughts of gray hair (& we pay good money NOT to allow that to happen!) & wrinkles etc. I choose the term, "dearest friend". That would be Pam. She has been there for me when a friend is needed most. Morning or night, fat or thin, (oh come on...we've all been there!!!) good times & sad, highs and lows. A true friend that loves you just because. Thank you my dear friend for ALWAYS being there. So that pretty much sums things up. My life has been good. For those of you whom have been a part of it I thank you. God bless.
