Gary's Story
Life
Following a BS in Engineering from Florida State, I went into the Air Force and managed to go
to grad school to get an MSEE from Stanford along the way. I completed my Ph.D. course work at the University of Maryland, but punted the dissertation, so I guess I'm a "dropout" of sorts.
The Air Force sent me to Fort Meade, MD and I sort of took root here, living just outside of Annapolis Maryland. I got out of the service after 4 years and worked as a civilian at the same job at NSA for a number of years. I've always worked as an engineer, in and around the government and the various "3 letter agencies". I retired in January 2011 and moved back to Florida, to Cape Coral.
I spent my 20's married, my...Expand for more
30's single, my 40's married again, and single again since then.
I've dabbled with quite a few pastimes over the years... including being an active snow skier, flying both powered airplanes and gliders, and dabbling with SCUBA, but these days I'm focusing on sailing, hoping
to sail away to foreign shores. Another favorite activity is ballroom and swing dancing.
I've enjoyed quite a bit of foreign travel over the years in Europe and Asia, often related to work assignments. More recently, I've enjoyed trips to China and Australia/New Zealand in 2004, 100 days in Scandinavia in 2005, England and Holland in 2007, Japan in 2008, Japan and Thailand in 2009 . In time, I hope to do more travel on my own boat.
