Gary's Story
Life
Life since high school has been a real adventure. I got my undergraduate degree at U.C. Davis and wish I could spend the rest of my time as a college student. I thought I wanted to be an orthodontist (even joined the dental club), but as fait would have it I became an orthopedist. I went to medical school in Boston and spent four years with my head buried in books in order to get the orthopaedic surgery residency of my choice. I was fortunate to return to U.C. Davis in Sacramento for my five year residency in orthopaedic surgery. The work was hard and the pay scale not so great but I really loved the training and working with some great people. I met my wife, who happens to be from Davis, and we've been happily married for over eight years. I found a real interest and challange in spinal surgery and we moved to Louisville with twins in the oven to complete my fellowship training in spinal surgery. Our twin boys were born there. We thought we would be southerners and I joined a practice for one year in New Orleans. Fortunately, we realize...Expand for more
d we missed home and moved out two years before Katrina destroyed our old neighborhood. Our third boy was born there. We moved the three boys and dog and I joined a great practice in Stockton. I've been enjoying my practice in spinal surgery and I'm close to family and old friends. I still keep in touch with many friends from high school and college. Kim is a full-time mom and has her hands full caring for three boys aged 5 and 4.
School
High school is a faint memory. I've lost contact with many good friends from my English, science, and math classes. The teachers I miss are Mr. Sly, Greer, Guzman (Machacho feo), Smith and Mrs. Traina. I don't miss Mrs. Bussie but that nazi's teaching saved my butt in college calculus.
Craziest school memories are dodging cops in my Hondaradi with a car full of drunken friends and looted holiday decorations (Don't notify the Tracy Press--leave it as the Holiday Bandits).
Happiest moments and one disappointing game surround football. If I could do it again I think I would have taken up some golf.
