Gary's Story
Life
I enlisted in the Army after high school (darned Reagan-era recession), and somehow got stuck for 12 years. I've since moved into defense contractor-land, first as a test analyst and most recently as a training author and database administrator. Exciting?
On the personal front, I've been married thrice and divorced twice (once my idea, once not), and I now have a beautiful son (born 1999) who drives me crazy and is wonderful in equal measure.

Military
I spent 12 years as a Korean linguist. The term "linguist" in the military means something vastly different than it does in normal English. I didn't study linguistics or anything like that, they just force-fed me enough Korean to do the job. Fortunately, the training was mostly in the gorgeous Monterey Bay area.
Naturally, this led to four years in Korea, doing spooky stuff. I spent the final three years teaching the job to new recruits, and probably scarring them for life.
