Gary's Story
April 4,2011: This should be interesting - trying to remember and list the events of the the last 47 [ouch!] years.
I had planned to become an architect, but became an astronaut instead.............yeah, right. Actually, I attended the U of I starting in the fall of '64 [last semester classes were held at Navy Pier b4 moving to the, then, new CCC (Chicago Circle Campus). My parents moved to AZ in the Fall of '64 and insisted I follow them at the end of my 1st semester. I guess they felt they needed to keep a close eye on me [anyone who remembers me from High School will be as confused on that as I was]. After working for a year [while waiting to attain in-state staus], I started at ASU majoring in General Business. I'll skip the part about, why the change from architecture, and let those be details I'll be glad to share (as well as any other parts of this story) with anyone who indicates the interest. Hopefully, that way, I'll get to hear your story too.

and in '68; was there 5 1/2 yrs working for Carson Pirie Scott and then for a division of Rockwell Int'l. But, in late '73 I headed back to AZ and have been here since. I worked, here, in retail sales until May of '75 when someone [or someones] decided they wanted "somthing" from the store I was managing [I'd guess cash - the tv's and stereos would have been a bit difficult to conceal]. My life did change significantly on that day and it took about another 10 years to become fully independent(?)(as if anyone can really ever be) again, but my life greatly improved, in the long run, because of that injury.
As a volunteer, I worked with the Auxiliary of a large hospital system, here in Mesa, for 11 years and, for an additional 11 years, on the missions committee at my church. I've traveled a bit and done some investing. In addition to the blessing of having been able to live here, in warm, [oh yeah, sometimes, hot!] sunny, beautiful AZ, blessings seem to be the most outstanding feature in my life.
