Gary Dyhouse:  

Married to Diane (Altadonna) Dyhouse on 9/7/1968. We have two sons, Gary A and Mark C, but unfortunately no grandchildren. Gary and his wife, Rose both work for the State of Missouri in Jefferson City.. Mark is a social worker for the Crider Institute in St. Charles. I was able to get Bachelor and Master's Degrees in Civil Engineering at Rolla in 1964 and 1966 and a second Master's in Engineering Management in 1974. I spent two years with McDonnell-Douglas and then 32 with the St. Louis District, Army Corps of Engineers, retiring in 1999. Most of that time I was Chief of Hydrologic Engineering where my section was responsible for studies to determine levee height, pump station capacities, dam design and flood height determinations. I taught undergraduate and graduate level hydraulics courses for Washington University and the Graduate School of the Missouri Institute for Science and Technology for 20 years in evenings. My "15 minutes of fame" occurred during and after the Great Flood of 1993 in the Midwest. I did numerous radio, television, newspaper and magazine interviews for the local, national and inter-national media on the impacts of the flood and the positive flood reduction effects of control structures.
