Life After Graduation ... that summer Larry Byrd and myself, body surfed the coast of CA from linda mar to santa cruz In the fall, started school at san mateo jc, 1 semester, quit without withdrawing ...drank coffee 'til march and joined Delta Air Lines at SFO ...and 1A status with the military Physical Induction Notice in Oct 65 So, run right down and joined the Navy Served DEC.10 1965 - DEC.05 1968 Air Traffic Control USS Constellation CVA-64 out of san diego Went to Viet Nam, Three Tours Of Duty, saw hawaii, japan, phillipines, & Stan Springer, one day, walking in the hanger deck He was with the flight group, I was with the ships company The BEST Thing ... that happened to me there was I EXPERIENCED The Lord Jesus, JUN1967 ! ! ! REALITY Came and I Knew Within My Very Being I Touched God and God Touched me !!! So ...The Next day I Went to the chaplain and he said, "oh, that's nice" And Once Again, I Found Out Religion is Not It ! I Read The Bible Daily and Practice Following This Inner Sense Within to Spokane 1973, Where, I touched some young people in Love with The Lord !!! and it matched my sense within and Fed my spirit ... They Met Simply, as The Church in Spokane ! Followed The Lord, to bellingham wa, back to spokane, boise id, new york city, to salt lake city, Where I am Today ... One Block from the U of U. Got my AA degree at san mateo, ca, 1973 BA at WWU, bellingham, wa, 1980 with 271 college credits and 3.89 GPA, I Loved School ! THE IMPASSE & MY SALVATION EXPERIENCE ( i write this, my personal experience, because some have asked me to do so ) The Impasse: I received a "Dear John" letter when I was overseas during my Second Tour of Duty. 9000 Miles from Home, Off the Coast of Viet Nam, in Gulf of Tonkin. Totally Alone w/ 5000 Guys on The Ship ... It Devastated Me Emotionally though I know now it shouldn't have. ( Having been brought up going to "christian" places on Sunday ie: Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist and Presbyterian ) I Had To Go "RELIGIOUSLY" by the Demand of my Mother until the age of twelve.(see footnote) FOOTNOTE: [ When I was ten, I declared, I did not want to go back to those places, cause It Was Not Real and All it was to me was A Bunch of Bible Stories ! It was more important to play with the kids in my neighborhood She Said, I Had To Go Until I Was Twelve, ....... and So I Did. On My Twelveth Birthday, I Declared, " This is my 12th Birthday and I choose not to go back any more ". My Mother Complied, with her own speaking, and Said, "Yes, that is what I said" and she never went back either.] AND SO, I walked the flight deck, Crossing Off Every Good Thing I Never Wanted to Experience Again in Human Living ! ( I could just go off the bow in front of the ship ... I could jump off the stern and be lost in the ships wake ) I kept Crossing Off Item by Item on My List All the Good Things I Never Wanted to Experience Again ! Dew on Green Grass Birds Singing Spring Tree Buds Sunrises and Sunsets Ocean Waves All the Clouds Wind in Trees Spring Flowers First Snow on Mountains Fall Colors Candle Flames Sand Between my Toes Waterfalls and Rivers Clear Mountain Lakes Trout Jumping Fish On the Line Friends Laughter Hugs People Smiling Petting and Feeding Animals Going Fast in a Car With The Windows Down A Sky FULL of Stars Those Warm Summer Nights I must have walked the length of the ship, All 1189 ft, 3 Times or 4 Crossing Off All The Good Stuff Enjoyed in Human Living ! ... and then on The BOTTOM of my List was ..... J E S U S WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH JESUS ? ? ? I Knew ... I HAD NOT EXPERIENCED JESUS ! and At Age 22, I Knew, I Qualified very well as a "Sinner" Then ....... I OPENED My Heart that night on the bow of the ship I Prayed: Lord, I Definitely Qualify as A Sinner and I Believe You Are The Son of God And I Believe God Raised You From Among the Dead And I Want You In My Life, I WANT YOU IN MY LIFE If YOU ARE REAL ! and Don't Want You If You Are Not Real YOU HAVE TO BE REAL TO ME ! ! ! and I Got ZAPPED ! INWARDLY, I Knew and Know Now, I Touched God & God Touched Me That very night on that ship in JUNE 1967. .................................. I have been Following The Lord Jesus ever since and REALLY Do Know Him as my Regulator in MY Very Life and Daily Life Supply ..................................
