Gary C.'s Story
Life
During college I volunteered for the U.S. Army and served with 82nd Airborne in the infantry in Vietnam '68 to '70. I graduated from SWTSU. Married my college sweetheart, we later divorced. Worked for an auto leasing company, life insurance company, and start up engineering company. Eventually became a petroleum landman and started GCF Energy Resources, Inc. Married another lovely woman had two children. One presently at Texas Tech, the other presently at Sam Houston. Applied for and went to law school. Divorced #2. Oil industry starting getting slack, so I started practicing law. Eventually decided to get into politics, ran for JP in Fort Bend County and won. ths later when it was approved I was appointed to that Bench, only to have to run for it again within the same year. I was unable to stay on the bench and started practicing law. Wished I would have stated in the oil business---it was a lot less stress. Married my present wife, she has a daughter that I treat as my own.
While in college and after the return from VN, I raced motorcycles, and I still have a 1100RS BMW. Later, I raced sailboats, and sports cars.
My wife and I travel as much as time permits. We were able to be at the 60th Anniversary of the invasion of Normandy with the ceremonies that included the President of France and the US. That same day we were at the celebration at Mere Ste. Eglse, where the 82nd parachuted into France on D day. We love going to Scotland and England.
I have a banjo, guitar, fiddle and mandolin. I enjoy playing bluegrass with others of the same interest.
