Gary's Story
It only took me 40 years to grow up, not really sure I have. But I do have fun and I've been blessed with being able to do any and everything that has caught my eye. If it interested me, I did it. I helped found the Peasant group of restaurants in Atlanta, in the mid-seventies, cost me my first marriage, went down to Boca Raton, Florida to lick my wounds and never went back. Kinda sux, cause all those guys are millionaires and I'm not. Oh, well.
At 50, I had an epiphany. It was as if God slapped me in the back of the head and said, "hey stupid, go back and finish what you left undone". I did. I enrolled in California Baptist University and got the degree I started 40 years ago. I earned my BA-English and now I'm working on my MFA-English-Creative Writing-Poetry. Discovering that I could write and become a published author was the greatest thing I have ever done. Hope...Expand for more
fully, I will continue to write for the rest of my life, to do what I've come to love.
I truly have lived a charmed life. In the course of my 57 years, I also have done work as a stockbroker, teacher, commodities broker, worked in film and television, ran a television station in Oxnard, CA, worked in automobile sales in what was at the time, one of the largest automobile dealerships in the country and so many other things that just happened to catch my eye. So many things, that I can't even remember all of them. That and the fact that I was a hard core alcoholic for most of those years. Then a true miracle happened. Following spending May 2007 totally blacked out, I came out of hell to the other side and have never looked back. My life today, is like a second birth and like the newborn, is full of life to experience. This is part of it.
Let's see what comes up next.
