More about Gary:"Gary Harrington has worked in many medias and art forms over the last 40 years, and his work is in private collections both nationally and internationally. Originally from the East Coast, he has worked in the New Orleans and Gulfport areas for the last 30 years. His studio is located in Gulfport, MS. Gary Harrington attended the University of Delaware were he mostly took up space. So he dropped out and became part of the Psychedelic Movement of the mid 1960's, spending a lot of time in the Greenwich Village. He was greatly influenced by pop artists like Andy Warhold and Peter Max. In 1967 he opened the first psychedelic shop in Wilmington Delaware, were he began making posters, jewelry and assorted pop art items. am as a combat artilleryman and mastered the art of making something out of nothing in order to survive. After the war he returned to Wilmington and opened a gallery were he sold paintings, photographs, antiques, and furniture; and by 1976 grew into Harrington Bicentennial Furniture Company, were he produced rustic and antique reproduction furniture. He closed the company in 1977 and moved to New Orleans for the warmer weather and the ambiance of the city. His studio is now located in Gulfport Mississippi, were he specializes in new millennium paintings and wood constructed sculptures that reflect life and movement. Mr. Harrington is a member of the New Orleans Art Association and the Ocean Springs Art Association. His work is may be seen at KAKO Gallery 536 Royal Street New Orleans, LA, 70130 (504) 565-5445 He is also a published author with the novel A Time of Innocence: A Time of Confidences Ó1991Dixie Press, Gulfport, MS, a story that chronicles the Psychedelic Movement and the Vietnam War.
