Gary's Story
I doubt many would / will remember me, I would have been rated a little under the wallflower catagory in High School. I often times describe myself as the skinny dork, when telling people what I was like in HS. (still not cool - but have about 100 more pounds on me). Pretty much spent time with my High School Sweetheart, God knows what she saw in me back then, and a few friends and that was it. Looking at photos, there are not many I remember, but it was 40 years ago after all.
My lifes bio - It has not been boring, I've got a lot of miles on me since 1966, 4 years in the Air Force has it really been 47 years since I went in) , got to cross the big water twice (Korea & Thailand) , several marriages and divorces - happily married this time for just over 15 years, my wife and I have 5 kids, 1 in NY, 2 in Colorado, 1 in Wisconsin, 1 in Montana, and 7 grandchildren.
Over the years, I've worked as a loan officer (10 years), a matchmaker (15 years), I had over 1,800 weddings), in route sales (5 years), as a reposessor, as a magazine publisher, and in the tech industry (Hewlett Packard, Adaptec, Roxio), did a little bit of stand up - but, was ...Expand for more
no good at that. Someday soon I may decide what I really want to do when I grow up.
I also was the Director of a small Chamber of Commerce here in Wyoming, we are a small town an hour away from the nearest Wal-Mart, but should you ever drive to Yellowstone, you'll pass us on the Interstate.
My latest endeavor is a second hand & computer repair store. I sell New and used stuff.. I've got some pictures of that place on my face-book page.
I've been gone from New York since the early '70's, and still miss Carvel and the "good food". Having lived in Colorado nearly 30 years I gotten used to what the westerners call "Italian", Olive Garden and Domino's. Now in the Wyoming, we eat beef - no ravioli, no lasagna - no antipasto!
I was in Orlando a few years ago and came upon a Carvel at the airport - nearly missed my flight getting a couple of Hot Fudge Sundays.
I see that many are retired, and I just can't seem to think about that - there is so much I haven't done that I still want to do. But being different from one and other is what makes the world go round.
So is the life of one Gary Hirt, Class of '66 - it really was a very good year!
