Gary's Story
Ok-let's do it
After high school I joined the Army in 1965. After all of my training I was sent to Hawaii for almost a year.In 1966 we were shipped off to Vietnam. A tour in Nam is 12 months. I had 2 months left when I got shot by a sniper, and wound up with about 80 stiches in my arm. I spent 3 months in the hospital in Japan and then returned to the states.I got out in 1968 and married a Kentucky girl. In 1983 my step dad passed away so we moved back to Carlisle to help my mom. She also passed away years later. We have 2 daughters and in 1988 got divorced. I remarri...Expand for more
ed and adopted 2 boys (brothers) when they were 5 and 7 years old. I now have 8 grand kids and hoping for more. In my spare time I ride my Harley and work around the house as I am on disability from the Veterans Administration and not allowed to work. That pretty much sums up my life. I still live in Carlisle.
update June 2011----I had to have my right leg amputated because of blocked arteries. Been thru %&$&%*. Slowly coming back and am walking with my new fake leg with help of a walker. Starting to walk a little with a cane, but it is not easy. Will keep you posted.
