Gary's Story

Life I went to a year-long instensive study on Electronics Technology immediately after high school and then went straight to work for C&P Telephone Company in June of 1970. I married Carol Igo (St. Albans class of 1969) in August 1976 and we have two daughters: Kathryn (now 31) and Holly (now 29). I retired from Bell Atlantic after 26 years and went to work for Microsoft Corporation in Washington DC. I have been with Microsoft for a little over ten years now and currently manage our Enterprise Consulting Services team in the Mid-Atlantic States area. I now have a grand-daughter, Hope Kathryn Christy, born to my youngest daughter Holly. What a joy she is and an awesome blessing from God! ls allowed me to gain two sons and it's really cool being the Patriarch of this growing family. Looking back at where I was in life just after high school, I could never have imagined what God had in store for me. There was a time when I felt like nothing mattered, but after being being blessed with a wife and two daughters now everything matters. That awesome responsibility is what gave me the inspiration and will to put myself through college and graduate school, to push myself to succeed at Bell Atlantic, and to eventually land the job I now have at Microsoft. Growing up as a poor kid on welfare in WV gave me a good grounding in the realities of life. It is my hope that I can continue to help and insprire others less fortunate than me to look beyond their current circumstances.
