Gary's Story

Update 2023. Lots has happened the last few years. The big news is that we have a new puppy who just turned 1 on 11/3/2023. My wife and I have had Irish Setters for 45 years. We decided to go a little smaller this time and now own (or are owned by) an Irish Red and White Setter. His middle name is trouble and he has twice as much energy as all our Irish...Expand for more
ers combined! He is currently working on his AKC Championship and is almost half way there after two majors in a show a few weeks ago. I still enjoy landscape photography and sell my photos through the B3 Gallery in Nashville, Indiana. In 2023, one of my photos was selected for the new public library where a 4 x 40 foot print hangs opposite the entrance.

After several weeks, I had a chance and time to leave the house and photograph the Hoosier National Forest in the winter. Tuesday was quite cold when Steven Higgs and I headed east to Browning Mountain. The temperature was
A Public Service Announcement from Cendigh.

Be sure to wear you coat and boots when you go out in the snow!

Cendigh loves his boots. He sounds like a Clydesdale when walking across the concrete, but he makes a direct line
This afternoon, Linda and I attended the in Bloomington Resistance Marcb. I think it was the first time I attended protest since the 60's here in Dunn Meadow against the war (well, I did participate in faculty strike one
We drove to Jackson County last Friday in search of Sandhill Cranes. Early in the morning, we found the cranes spread across a 2-4 square mile area. After an hour or so, the cranes took the sky in multiple swarms and joined
I tied to get the wings synchronized. Two out of three birds is not bad....
We have had mostly cloudy days for a couple of weeks. However, Cendigh faithfully waits for the sun to shine in every day. He is one happy dog today!
While returning from a trip photographing Sandhill cranes (and freezing), we found this hawk beside the road in Lawrence County. I thought it was a Cooper's hawk, but more research suggests it might be a read shouldered haw
As Linda and I were finishing our errands on Saturday, it started to snow. The snow was wet and it was sticking to the trees. I decided that if I was to going get some snow photographs this winter, I had better head to the
I am tired of the rain and "warm" weather. I want more cold and snow!
I got away Friday to do some more shooting even though it was 6 degrees at my first stop. I had hoped to find some Sandhill Cranes. But, after driving for 90 minutes, I did not find a single one on the ground or in the air
This storm could be interesting, or nothing. We will buy a free groceries since we did not shop much last week. Hopefully, everyone here is sane and have not picked the stores clean.
This morning, I asked Linda to use the shovel to clear the front steps and a shovel width in front of the steps so I could use the snowblower. She kind of went crazy with the shovel!
This heron appears to be keeping a sharp eye on the geese. I was the last to arrive, so I am not sure who has feeding rights! Taken last week at Lake Monroe.
I was rather engaged photographing the heron and geese last week, and almost failed to notice an Easter bluebird that dropped by to check me out.
Linda and I are going to be the proud grandparents of a grandson come November.

Or course, I have always known it was a boy as any Morrison baby born in November for at least the last three generations has been a male. My
Turkey Run State Park Falls Canyon Nature Preserve

A visit to Turkey Run State Park was on my list since last fall. Finally, I decided to go for a visit this spring. The first two or three times I planned my trip, I found
A few weeks ago, Linda and I hiked Greens Bluff Nature Preserve in Owen County. The hike started on a high ridge with deep ravines on either side. Eventually, we came to the bluff overlooking Raccoon Creek. I noticed there
As I was driving through Musctatuck NWR, I thought I had spotted a blue bird in a meadow. However, on closer examination it was an Indigo Bunting!
As I was driving through Muscatatuck NWR last week in search of Great Blue Herons, I found this Common Yellow Throat in a field. A few months ago, I was talking to a ranger and was told they burn the field and than have a c
We are waiting for the start of the Kris Kristofferson concert.
