Gary's Story
Life
Since retiring in 2008, I still enjoy life fulfilling my retirement goals of spending more time with family, travel, and doing volunteer work. The big change was moving to Fort Collins, CO after 46 years in Scottsdale, AZ to be near my granddaughters as they grew up. They are off to University of Arizona now.
Volunteer efforts here in CO are continuing with Slammin' Famine by sponsoring meal packing events for Feed My Starving Children in the fall and spring of each year. We will top 5 million meals packed in our Feb. 2024 pack. I also volunteer with Serve 6.8, a local Northern Colorado service organization supported by over 50 churches here in Northern Colorado.. es, floods, and storms in addition to continuously helping with local community needs (homeless, poor, infirmed, etc.).
Travel continues with many trips to Florida to see my oldest two kids there. Judy Kaiser O'Bryan has been great in setting up lunches and other activities with fellow classmates when I visited Florida. My 7th trip to Israel occurred this past May, only this time with some of my family.
In my spare time, I still do genealogy research on both sides of my family. Genealogy software and on-line search websites have helped tremendously. My tree now has over 11,000 people on it.
The Lord has granted me good health and I do not want to waste it, so I keep busy because, at our age, every day is a gift.
