Gary's Story
I had to leave as you all know what happened in USA. Around April 2008 I could not sell my house after 8 months on the market so we decided to rent it out, and live in my house I built in Laos when I married my wife in 1998. And I have been living here in Paradise ever since. I knew back in April that it would take 5 or more years before things even looked a little bit better.
So here I am paying the lowest bills I ever seen. Like Full cable TV just like back home for $2.60 a month. And water and electric for 30 a month, and the phone only costs 12 cents a minute to call back home. The only thing expensive here is internet 30 a month for DSL.
Food is the best I have six coconut trees on my property and 5 banana trees. And 1 Jackfruit tree. And exotic fruit available year round. The only bad thing here is the heat. From March to June it is very hot like 95 to 101 everyday. Then June to Sept is Monsoon rainy season. Oct to Feb it is cool nice. Almost like Haw...Expand for more
aii here except no beaches were land-locked just the giant Mekong river that runs through the whole country.
Here you can take 10 people out for dinner and drinks and the bill is less than $20.00 dollars. I eat breakfast with a bowl of fresh fruit & yohgurt, pancakes, eggs and toast and coffee and juice for $2.00. Here they even give 10% interest for a savings account. I shipped my two cars here by container for $2,000 dollars door to door. But the tax was high for my Mitsubishi Montero it cost me $12,000 dollars and my Toyota Sieena was $3,800. But if I ever wanted to sell them they go for triple what they sell for back home. A mitsubishi 4x4 can fetch $35,000 dollars where in the states it would be 10,000.
And I keep up on all my movies by buying bootlegs from China for $1.00 each. I get the movies the same day there released in AMERICAN theators.
