Gary's Story
After graduation I got drafted 10 months later. I was scared when I went to the induction center. Then to my great relief, Rick Giggey showed up. We were both so happy to see someone we knew. It was comforting to have a friend to share what was about to take place. We got to call our family from the center to say good bye. We both went to Ft Leonard Wood, Missouri. But after basic we were sent to different bases for training. I went to Advanced Infantry Training, I think Rick went to Jump school. Rick went to Germany I think, I went to the Vacation spot of the world. South East Asia. (Vietnam & Korea) I saw my share of combat and was injured but returned home a year and 3 month later. I hooked up with Buck (larry) Anderson from high school. He had just returned from Nam also. I met my wife at a welcome home party in Feb 70. Told her I loverd her that night. Four mo and Four days later I asked her to marry me. Four month and Four days later we were wed. Her name is Roxana Solomon (maiden) and she went to South High. We have been married for 42 yrs. Two Children and 2 Grandson's. We moved to Vegas in 88. I learned how to Deal all the table games. I worked at Harrah's and Caeser's on the strip. I was promoted to Pit Boss in 93 and had to retire in 2002 due to injuries sustained in the Military. I've had some close calls because of Agen Orange, as did Buck Anderson. He passed away in 84 from complications due to Agent Orange exposure. I still miss him. I have been luck so far. Been hospitalized 4 times for more than 20 days each time and placed on life support each time. Last was July 27, 2011 till Sept 3. My wife was told she should take me off life support and let me go. As you can tell.... She Refused. I'm still here. Life is good.

I always wanted to be a Truck Driver when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a not so great idea. As it turns out, they were Right.
I enjoy Shooting. I have a nice collection of firearms and enjoy keeping my aim accurate
My Hero's are the Men and Women that Defend our Country and our Constitution. I saw too many of my Brothers give the Ultimate Sacrafice
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Buck Anderson, because I miss him He was my friend.
I stalked them, made them listen, I asked where they were and where they were going, I made them talk to me, do home work, and if I didn't make them hate me at least once in their life, I didn't do my job. Today.... They know it was because I loved them. They say I did good. They are my Children
No campus life. Just life with guys in a jungle that always had my back, and I theirs
My best friend would tell you I'm loyal to a fault, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as never serious.
No Tropies.. A few medals in a shoe box some where in the closset
In 10 years, I hope to be Alive. I'm going to get there by keeping Family close.
My oldest friend I met at the VA hospital. We both had some of the same problems. He is close because I don't need to explain why I cry at the Wall and on Memorial Day
My first job was at U.S. Army, where I got paid $87 mo to ??????. What I remember most about it is Why did I get Egg'd when I came home and they were unloading Coffins with my brothers in them??????.
I had the most fun in my life while at East. We polk-a-dotted Highland's stadium RED. Cost my parents lots. And the war was far far away.
