Gary's Story
Back in my Seaholm days I was already playing in bands and was pretty sure I was going to make a career of it. By my senior year I'd joined the musicians union and was playing with local artists as well as doing recording sessions for Motown and Stax records in Detroit at United Sound Systems Studio. I've been a career musician for forty-plus years now.
In 1976, I packed and headed west for California. On the way I spent a year in Phoenix which turned out to figure prominently in my career for years to come. In 1977, I arrived in Los Angeles and was able to make in-roads fairly quickly into the music scene there. In addition to recording sessions I also performed regularly at Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm. I continued to work in the industry there for the next ten years before moving to Florida to work in productions at Burt ...Expand for more
Reynolds Theater in Jupiter, FL. After four years I returned to L.A. to record and tour with a band on the Warner Bros label named Highway 101 which subsequently led to numerous tours with other artists. In 1990 I relocated to Nashville, Tennessee where I still live and work in the music industry. In recent years I've toured and recorded with Dwight Yoakam, Ricky Skaggs, Dierks Bentley, Brooks & Dunn and am currently with Ronnie Dunn on his solo tour. For those interested, I have a website RESOPHONICRODEO.COM and Facebook page.
Although no longer married, I'm the proud father of two kids who are currently in college here in the Nashville area. I had hoped to attend the reunion this year but ended up having touring schedule conflicts. It would have been fun to see my fellow classmates again! Hopefully there will be other opportunities.
