Gary's Story
From Peachland Elementary, I went to Placerita Jr. High. Three years of mind-numbing boredom. I hated Junior High.
Wm. S. Hart High school was better. I basically had one or two regular classes (like math or English) and the rest were art classes. During this time I joined the radio club, which is when I started help put on the ¿Movies at Noon¿. That was fun.
After graduation from Hart High, I tried to get out of Newhall, only to be accepted to California Institute of the Arts. I spent fours years at Cal-Arts, during which I interned in the special effects department at the Wal...Expand for more
t Disney Company known as W.E.D. This is where they develop the amusement parks. When my time at Cal-Arts ended, I left Disney to join a friend working on "Star Trek:The Movie".
In 1981 I married my wife Terry, whom I met while at Cal-Arts.
I have worked on many films since. I've spent almost 35 years in the Visual Effects business. I owned my own company, JEX FX, which closed in 2001 due to the advancement of Computer Graphics.
I now work as a freelance visual artist and engineer designing and building all sorts of contraptions. My wife and our dog, Tango live in Marin County.
