Gary's Story

1983-1986: Goofed off 1986: On tour with a band 1987: Moved to Phoenix to play in a Christian rock band - big mistake. 1988: joined the army (to get away from the christians); 2 months basic training - tough but fulfilling; 9 very fun months in Denver, CO; 15 months in Panama - fun until we had a war - Yikes!; 1 year in the Mojave desert. Became Buddhist; Became vegetarian; Became enlightened; Almost went to the first gulf war. 1992: Out of army, moved to Austin. Great town, played lots of music but didn't go anywhere. 1997: Moved to Denver. I love the Colorado mountains - skiing, camping, etc. Got bored. 1998: Back to the army (don't ask why - I still don't know). This time in Military Intel...Expand for more
ligence. 2 years in Monterey, CA learning Korean; 9 months in San Angelo, TX learning how to spy on the North Koreans; 1 year in Korea spying on the North Koreans; 2 years at Ft. Hood, TX. Almost went to Iraq again; became unenlightened; 2003: Out of the army and back in Austin - yay! 2008: Married for 3 years with a 12 year old step daughter; Working for a defense contractor; Playing music on the weekends; seeking enlightenment and good beer. I love: playing music, working out; hiking/camping - especially in the mountains; reading/studying classic literature - favorites include Shakespeare, Aristotle, Lao Tzu, Marcus Arelius, eastern/western philosophy; martial arts; I hate: stupid people;
