Gayla's Story

Well, according to my college professors I am qualified as a genius (maybe we need to reconsider THEIR status....lol). I am a Christian, a Daughter, a Sister, an Ex-wife, a niece, a cousin, an Ex-Stepmom. I have had six step kids, three boys and three girls. Now my kid is my little girl Chihuahua named Gidget. She knows lots of tricks that I taught her and is very protective over me. I raised Gidget from 5 weeks old after My Daddy gave her to me as a Birthday present the year before he died. I saw no use to get her registered since I was having her spayed anyhow and wouldn't be breeding her. She is five years old now, and the light of my life. Her sister Trixie, which I also owned, and who was only three years old, had to be put down. She got very sick and the Vet told me that she wasn't going to get any better, only worse, she was diabetic and it had ruined her kidneys, so I had her euthanized. I Loved her THAT much. I have come back 100% since that accident that nearly took my life in 1980. I'd say that it took about five or six years to fully get back all the memories then plus too I was trying to store all of my recent memories also. I can say that I remember you all just as you were in school....lol. Now, some of you may not want to be remembered in that way but others of you would want me to remember you in no other way I am sure. Either way those memories are the best because I know that I had alot of friends that stuck by me and my family in my worst days. Most of all, are the prayers that went up in my behalf. I want to thank you all for being the kind of friends that I would of made had I have been the "friend maker". <---Even though that don't make much sense I would assume that you all get my drift (if you know me that is),lol. I have been to college and majored in Criminal Law, but the "then" District Attorney, Jim Rives, at that time only accused me of being after his job...lol, I told him "No, I don't want it". You only have to be a "good liar" to be a good lawyer, which I AM NOT, and do not believe in it. I only want the truth from everyone and only tell the truth to them in return. Then I majored in Nursing and did a few jobs in that field (including taking care of some of my friends parents and grandparents). I have worked in a couple of nursing homes and still enjoy working with the elderly. You'd be surprised just how much knowledge is held in those brains, since they have already lived and thrived so much. I am presently taking care of my own Mother who is turning 84 yrs. old this August 13th. I did the same for my Dad who left us in 2005 due to Lukemia. I do things like take her blood sugar, blood pressure, making sure she is eating properly, help her get to her desired locations by driving her, or monitering her walking with a walker or using her power wheel chair. I go to the drug store to get her medication. And take her to her doctor's appointments. I live in the house that My Daddy left me where him,...Expand for more
Momma and me used to live, but she don't live far from me, almost right in my back yard, in a new Double Wide mobile home that her and Daddy bought before he died. I lived in Arkansas for about a month untill I got so homesick I could of barfed. People out there just ain't like us, they don't even speak to you or make friends as easy as we do here in North Carolina. I just got tired of when I said,"howdy" to someone, they looked at me like I was crazy...lol. Thats just how you get to know someone...is greeting them and talking to them, or thats how I was raised anyhow. Plus I got tired of road crews stopping me just to hear my accent, as I still had my NC license plate on my car...LOL. I usually just really put it on good for them in my best "Mayberry" accent. I just made tracks back home as soon as I could, and you wouldn't believe the relief I felt as I saw the "Dobson" sign on Interstate seventy-seven coming home. I said right then that I'd never leave it again to live anyplace else. I reckon we live and learn. Well, Level Cross is right in the middle of everywhere anyhow, I have Mt. Airy to my North, Elkin to my West, Pilot Mt. to my East, and my old home town Winston-Salem to my South. So there are folks that I know in every major town around me. Who could ask for anything more? I will not let anyone else infringe on my happiness, well not since I have grown so accustom to it. But if I happen to meet just the "right" man, I'd probably jump on him in a "New York Minute"...LOL. Yall know, if you will give me an inch I'll take a mile, in chatting about who I am and what all I have been through. I just want you all to remember me as a helper and a confidant, or someone who you could share anything with and you'd always know that I'd try to help in any way that I could. Or at least someone who loves fun and wants everyone around her to have plenty of it. I keep on updating my story every so often cause, they keep on offering me alot of prizes to do so (or at least a chance that I'll probably never win anyhow) but as long as I got a chance I reckon I got just as good of a chance as anyone else. I try to never miss out on a chance to WIN anything!....LOL. Sometimes I get LUCKY! I share my home with My chihuahua, Gidget, which I find she's not nearly as testy as most of the men I have married...lol. If I got one do-over I'd deffinately go over my list of friends from school, I have a name on there NOT to trust, especially with My life or my boyfriend (she knows who she is!) and yall probably do too. In ten years, I hope to be as happy as I am now. I'm going to get there by trusting in My God and staying exactly where I am now, trying to stay away from the wrong people and trying not to be so gullible and trusting of others these days. I love you all and I really mean that, even the "so called" friends, only because thats is a requisette of being a Christian and going to heaven, not because everyone has always been good to me.
