Gene's Story
I've been married for 32 years to Art, whom I met in Kansas City, MO, which is where I moved after high school. We have 2 grown children. Our son, 27 lives in the Atlanta area. One daughter 25, 2 grandchildren who all live in Louisiana.
We've owned 2 private education businesses, both in Missouri.
I am a professor at a private college north of Atlanta. I love my profession and my job teaching pre-service teachers how to teach PreK-8th grade students. I also teach for an online college and enjoy that as well. However, probably like most of you, I am very much looking forward to retiring. It's time to PLAY! It's time to travel more!
When I do get to play, I do a good bit of crafting/art, rustic woodworking, basket making, needlework, etc. which I display and sell in various places. We travel as much as we can.
We have 3 dogs, all pound puppies or street dogs. All are between 70 and 100 pounds! They enjoy the woods where we live as much as we do. THis city girl was shocked the first time she saw a black bear in her front yard. Now I just look forward to it, as long as they stay ...Expand for more
away from the house. That hasn't been a problem with those dogs!
Linda Buchanan Randes and some other classmates are organizing a reunion. I think it might be fun to go to a 40th reunion so I posted what Linda and other folks are putting together. At the very least, the FWB area isn't a bad place to spend a weekend in October!
I don't remember how many were in our class. I think it was big and I know that many of us didn't even know each other. I know many of us were militray kids which means we have scattered everywhere. Actually, it was only Mr. Leonard and my mother that kept me going! (ouch!) It does sound funny to say, but we are all grown up professionals now, so it would be fun to share some of our common history. So at least get in touch with Linda at the address posted in the events section and try to come to FWB in October.
Get out your annuals and spend an hour on the internet googl-ing and searching yellow pages for 10 of the classmates you are most curious about. Then send them the info about the reunion. Classmates has a map of where we live. That's a way to start.
