Gene's Story

Well, it took almost 30 thirty years to get around to doing what I figured I would be doing when I was in high school... teaching Math! I am finishing up my ninth year out at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) on Sandy Hook, where I am the Academic Team Advisor (always did love facts, dates, trivia, etc). I spent the years after college in one area or another of the computer industry, writing software, and designing application systems for a number of companies, including Prudential where I worked with Maria and Bob. I taught Computer Science for 14 years at Brookdale... ran into Sue and Geanna (among others) there.... taught Jim and Roseanne.... served as department chair. I also did a lot of consulting work. From March through November I umpire softball and baseball. After coaching Little League and AAU baseball for 15 years and having the boys outgrow playing, umping lets me stay involved in my favorite sport. I also make "occasional" trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, and visit the poker tables there. Granted it is a little more expensive than the days of penny poker with Ed, Chris, Bob and Fra...Expand for more
nk at Frank's house, or the dealer's choice game of "Deuces and Jacks, Man with the Axe, Sevens Automatically Take It!" My wife Terry and I will be married 34 years on April 3. She ran her own gift shop in Belmar for 8 years. She is currently working in retail and building her online presence through a web site and eBay. We have 4 children: My daughter Karen is 31, married, and works as an editor of medical textbooks for a publishing company in Philadelphia. She, her husband Tom (music director at St. Mary's in Colts Neck) and my grandson Josiah live in Brick Twp. My oldest son Gene, 28, graduated from Alaska Pacific University with a major in Outdoor Studies..... climbing glaciers, kayaking in the cold Pacific...that kind of stuff!! He and his wife Erika (they got married last 4th of July) live and work in Anchorage, hoping to eventually move a "little closer" to New Jersey. My son Ken, 24, graduated from Villanova with a degree in Finance and is living and working in New Brunswick. Brian is 22 and finishing his fourth year at Northeastern University majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Political Science.
