George's Story
Life
After graduation from Analy in 1975 I Joined the United States Air Force, completing a 20 year career there. While in the USAF I was an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician (Bomb Squad), and yes I still have all my parts, hahahaha. While in the military I was stationed at many bases around the world to include; Germany, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Korea. I also had the opportunity to be stationed at Chanute AFB IL, Myrtle Beach AFB SC, Nellis AFB NV, Luke AFB AZ and to complete my career I ended up at the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NAVEODTECHDIV) Indian Head MD. While at the NAVEODTECHDIV I served my last 4 years in the military as the USAF EOD Lead for Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal while stationed at the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division. While in the military I earned my BS in Computer Science from Saint Leo University, Tampa, Florida.
After retirement from the military I worked for the Titan Corporation as a Program Analyst assigned to the then chairman of the Joint Robotic Program (JRP), advising him on EOD robotics and providing continuity in the JRP office during the chairman'...Expand for more
s frequent absences.
I was recruited in 2002 to join Battelle, in Arlington, VA. While at Battelle, I provided Program Management and Technical Support for the Technical Support Working Group (TSWG) in the position of Project Manager for the TSWG Robotics program.
Again i was recruited away, this time by the same individual at Battelle, but he was now a VP at the West Virginia High Tech Foundation where i I am now the new Program Manager for Robotics.
It's now May 2009... I am separated (past 3 years) and now live in New England (same amount of time). Up until December of this past year I worked for a robotics firm called "iRobot" It was a great ride while it lasted but like many others I was caught up in being laid-off. Luckily for me I was only out of work for about 2 weeks, I was wanted by another company that not only dsigns, builds and sells robots (tactical variety), but also the market leader in Bomb Suits and remote Bomb extraction tools. The company is pretty much one stop shopping for the bomb technicians around the world. I am happy, get to travel extensively, and although I don't disarm explosive devises any longer I get to play with all the toys!
