George's Story
I HAVE A YEARBOOK FROM EVERY YEAR SINCE THE SCHOOL OPENED IN 1922. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO GET THEM ON CLASSMATES.[ I FINALLY FOUND OUT HOW. NOW EVERY TOTEM IS ON CLASSMATES {MEMORY LANE} FROM 1924 - 1989.] LET ME KNOW AND I'LL BE GLAD TO LOAN THEM THE "TOTEMS" WHICH I HAVE. grsldavis at msn.com
After graduating from South Side in 1952, I went to Hanover College and majored in Chemistry and Math. Then I attended Indiana University Graduate School and also majored in chemistry and math. During the summer I married Sara Hayes in Fairmont, IN and finished my Masters Degree at IU.The next school year I became a full time teacher at South Side High School where I taught math and chemistry emulating my math teacher Ora Davis and my chemistry teacher Ward O. Gilbert. I continured teaching chemistry at South Side High School until 1996 when I retired. Along the way we had 2 children Tamara in1971 and Jim in 1975. Now we have 4 grandchildren, Joshua Vandre, 2000; Kristen Davis, 2001; Corey Robert Davis, 2005; & Lucy Davis, 2007.
