George's Story

Greetings, I can't believe everyone is retiring. It's just another excuse for age discrimination. By the time you learn your job they want to replace you with an 18 yr. old. Anyway, I'll be here for another 10 years and I'll tell you why. Started practicing law in Nashville on my birthdate 5/5/79 and am coming on my 29th annversary in 2008. Handle a trial lawyer practice in both civil and criminal law. Did too many divorces then and wasn't ready to settle down because of the potential consequences. Anyway you all know that I'm not tall, dark and handsome but I got away with being cute and cuddly. Got tired of the chase and met a Lebanese, catholic girl on an airplane trip to the New Orleans jazz and heritage festival the weekend of my May birthday in 1988. She wasn't Greek but close enough. Chased her for awhile by airplane and married " the wife" memorial day 1989. We have three girls age 13,14and 18. They call me Duz, Duzy or grandpa. Anyway, they are all in private school with one going off to college. We live on a farm in Gallatin,Tn.(tornado alley) about 30 miles away and I commute to Nashville everyday. " She" said I had to quit bringing home chickens and other creatures but it was the two goats that really got me in trouble when she found them a sleep on the lawn chairs by the pool. Four women and there isn't enough space in the house or here to tell you all about what goes on in that house. The easiest part of my life is the job but I tell the family I "drink" to deal with the harmone level once I walk in the door. The wife and I coached girls fast pitch softball for 10 years at the park ,travelball and middle school . I am reliving my life through high school football and softball games . The oldest, Kat is playing again in the TSSAA softball tournament .WE won the middle region and it is being hosted at JPII high school. We deserve it, we won it out right! I am retiring this year as a coach but I still have 5 more years of high school tailgating to go. Go to all the Titian games . The law office is 2 blocks away from the stadium on the eastside , so if you need a place to park just call or ask a friendly cop where to find me. Where the oldest one is going to college is the problem with two more to go. Then, they will have to get married. Someone was asking me one day about how I was going to pay for all this? I told them, it would be no problem, I've got it all figured out, by the time they put me in my grave I'm going to let the second husband pay for all this!! Went to the 67 class reunion ,thought I was the only one around from 68. The Memphis Tigers basketball team were great this year. The local paper finally put them on the front page. Did you know that if you are from the westside of the Tennessee river(Memphis) you are not from the state of Tn. but from either Mississippi or Arkansas. We paid them back with Gov. Sunquist. It's been good hearing from everyone the last several weeks but I guess it's taken 40 years to jumpstart eveyone's engine. Mom passed away 4 years ago and Dad who is still living on Broadmoor St. will be 91 in August. Nothing changes. "The days are long, the years are short!!" And now you know the rest of the story. God love you all. See you soon. Duzy ps. Just got back from the jazz fest, ...Expand for more
a five day trip to New Orleans which ended on the final day with Carlos Santana and the Neville Brothers. Would like to see some of ya'll there next year for some crawfish. "Leze le bon ton rule" ( Let the good times roll) High school graduation is over, we had two priests and the Bishop showup. I told my fatherinlaw he couldnot have had any better, he said next time invite the Pope . Well 2009 turned out to be a better year for the Duzanes. Sept. of 08 right after the reunion my brother Mark a 73 grad came down with myloidisplacia leukemia. I ask three prayers to be answered: (1) that I would be his match (2) I would be his stem cell donor and (3) he would be cancer free. It was all answered and he has a new chance at life and a chance to break par at the golf course. Merry Christmas to all and a blessed and prosperous and healthy New Year. Duzy ps. " keep believing!" 2010--Well, I've had my head in the sand this year not wanting to hear and see what's going on. I guess it is the death of John Bain (68)that prompts this writing. My brother Mark Duzane class of 72 passed on March 18th, the day after St. Paddy's day. Nobody was expecting it. I saw him a couple of days earlier. 19 months he fought it and the trips we took to MD Anderson Hospital in Texas gave him hope. God didn't answer the last prayer but he did the others. Now I think of John Bain. Went to NOreleans for the Jazz fest little did I know about the Nashville Flood of 2010. Saw it on tv and took pictures from the plane as we were coming in to Nashville. Opryland completely underwater. I'll attach a few. No damage at Duzacre Farm or the law office. Just turned 60 and still wondering what else this decade will bring other than sadness. Dad won the senior swimming olympics this past march in Memphis at the age of 92, his 3rd Gold Medal. Will be in Nashville for the State swimming meet. Kat is home from college, Anna and Margaret are still playing softball at Pope John Paul. Will be in Memphis this weekend to play Briarcrest. The wife is well and still retired. Well it's been awhile, 2 years, since I have updated this story. I went under ground for awhile to think things through(grieving). Bro. Mark passed March 2010, Dad passed in April 2011. No more phone calls from either of them, other than the siblings wanting their inheritance. Selling both houses in the neighborhood but a neighbor keeps interfering with the agents. He scared them to the point that they had to call to see if he had the "where with all." His wife is a saint but he is just plain ole mean spirited . Have recently hooked up with friends from Sherwood JH.on the internet It has been fun listening and telling JH. stories about teachers, students and events. So if there are any of you still reading this, jump on board. Anna graduates from The Pope this year and will be heading to Bellarmine with Kat. We will be heading back to New Orleans for the Jazz Fest for my birthday again, plus Kat (she's of age to hang out on Bourbon st.) and friends. Still practicing law, hanging out at Duzacre kicking it with family and friends.
