George's Story
Life
After high school went to and graduated from Florida State University. Entered the military and spent the next 34 years there. In that time I sleep in everything from a poncho liner to 5-star hotels; ate everything from caviar to dog and rat; drank German beer, Russian Vodka, Korean/Vietnamese rice wine and a lot of stuff I would like to forget; got to work in and visit over 60 countries; jumped out of perfectly good aircraft in both day and night; worked 60-80 hours per week with some of the most professional people on this planet; abused my body everyday with physical training and my mind with professional schooling and the jobs given to me by the Army; and lastly I was privilaged to lead men in combat (truely the best and worst of times). God, did 34 years go by quickly. Was married twice and my current wife Linda and I have been together for 30 years. My son Kyle is 12 and is a pretty good swimmer. Update Nov 2011. Retired as a COLONEL in 2002 and went to work as a military contractor. Spent 4 1/2 years working in Afghanistan, 1 1/2 in Africa, and also spent time in Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Built a home in Monticello Fl, outside Tallahassee, and some day I plan to spend some time there Still married to Linda, she has the patience of a saint, son Kyle now goes to Florida Southern College (just can't get away from Lakeland) where he is a freshman on the swim team. Life is still great, hope yours is as well. Take care!!
Update Jul 2013. Sorry I missed the 50th but am back in Afghanistan working with the Afghan National Army. Not much has changed, still enjoying the work although this is a young mans business so as Linda said enjoy this one it's your last. Son changed major and now is helping build the swim team at Thomas University, plans to get his degree and go to FSU for a masters in Sports Management. Hope to make the next reunion be it 5 or 10 more years and see those of us who are left. Take care!!
