George's Story
Attended QJC and Suffolk University; after graduating from QJC, joined New England Telephone before transferring to AT&T in Washington, DC ("Wash One") as a technician, where I worked on Presidential Trip Circuits, Visiting Heads of State and circuits for use by the Secretaries of State and Defense. I then moved to Long Valley, in the mountains of NJ and was promoted to supervisor at AT&T - Cedar Knolls, before moving to HQ in Bedminster, NJ as a project manager. I retired in 1998 and went to Telccordia Technologies as a Release Manager for a year. I took 6 months off to travel and met the woman who was to become my second wife in Hong Kong. Back in the US, I went to work at Lucent-Bell Labs until "The Meltdown) on March 9, 2001. I wound up at the USPS as a Rural Carrier for a year and retired as a Supervisor Customer Services in 2012. ...Expand for more
I now work PT at a national candy factory in Hackettstown, NJ a couple of afternoons a week, averaging about 600 hours a year. I have one son from my first marriage who is an MTS at VZW, a daughter in the 8th grade and another son in the fourth grade, both from my second marriage. Believe it or not, both of the are straight A students! My older son took after me, definitely not an A student, but smart nevertheless. Life is good, looking forward to the Class of 1968s Reunion in June. I get back to MA 3 to 5 times a year and usually "tour" North Quincy at least twice a year. Another favorite pastime is visiting Nantasket Beach, Plymouth (including the Lobster Hut!) and the Cape. UPDATE: Had a great time at the reunion on June 23, 2018, it was great seeing all of those that attended, can't wait until the next one, hope "I last" until then.
