George's Story
I worked for two years after STHS trying to figure out what I wanted to do. From 1962 - 1965 I attended PSU and graduated with a BS Aerospace Engineering and also got married to the former Donna Longenecker the spring of 1965. After graduation, we moved to Tennessee where I worked on the Apollo Space Systems and received my MS in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering from the Univ. of Tennessee Space Institute.
1969 we moved to Pittsburgh area where I worked with nuclear submarine power generation and a steam turbine business. During that time I also taught at Point Park College in Pittsburgh.
By 1972 we had three children (2 girls and a boy). That same year I joined GE Power Systems in Greenville, SC. 1976 we moved to Schenectady, NY, where I was manager of GE¿s Middle East and European Power System¿s product service. We all learned to ski in self defense of the New York winters and learned how to appreciate the very short summers at Lake George.
1984 we moved to Madison, Connecticut, while I worked at GE headquarters in training and education. 1990 we were transferred to Cincinnati, OH, to the GE Aircraft Engine business. This was our empty nest move. However, all three came home twice before getting settled in their profession and family life.
1999 I took an early retirement from GE and operated a consulting business until my hearing loss forced me to close that and get ¿really retired¿.

e residents of Venice, FL. However we maintain a home in Morrow, OH (near Cincinnati) because of ¿grandchildren¿. Our oldest daughter, Alaina, is divorced with three girls and lives in Mason, OH. Our youngest daughter, Julie, lives in Lebanon, Ohio, with her husband, Jason, two girls and a boy. Our son, Dan, lives in Austin, TX, with his wife Carla and daughter Gianna.
Donna and I both were very active respectively, in the men¿s and women¿s barbershop societies. We were both very fortunate to sing with choruses who were international gold medal champions. We also sang on two PBS shows with Mitch Miller, performed with the Cincinnati Pops, sang in Carnegie Hall plus travelled internationally with our hobbies. We always thought of Miss Lindemuth during those times, and still do. She was a wonderful gift to STHS. Donna still sings in a chorus and a quartet in Ft. Myers, FL, but I regretfully had to give it up because of my hearing loss.
We are very active in our church. We both ¿play at¿ golf. I help with Habitat for Humanity in Florida and help with the homeless in downtown Cincinnati. Donna volunteers with the food pantry in Lebanon, OH. We spend most of the winter months in Florida but return to Ohio and travel to Austin several times a year. We have been very blessed and try to give back whenever and wherever we can.
If you pass thru Florida or Ohio, we would welcome a visit. My cell is 513-225-4536.
