George Smith:  

Life Introduction: George's compositions and arrangements have been performed by bands, orchestras, and festival choirs throughout the Western United States. He is published by three publishing houses. Biography: George Edwin Smith has spent the last 36 years directing adult and children's choirs, orchestras, bands, as well as teaching guitar and musical theatre production courses at Yuba College, Merced Community College, and at various California high, junior high, and elementary schools and churches. As an adjudicator, he judges more than a dozen events each year. Writing his first piece for wind band at age 12, Smith set the stage for his career. He won his first composition contest at age 19, and won his first international prize at age 20. He has a degree in Music Composition and Geology from San Jose State University, where he studied under Higo Harada, Tikey Zes, Brent Heisinger, and Alan Strange.
