George's Story
I started working at AT&T in 1974 and worked there for 27 years, starting in the Mailroom, then the Graphic Arts Department, Executive Travel, and finally Records Management . I married my wife Kathi in 1982 and moved to Woodbridge, then to North Edison where we raised our two sons, Rob, now 32 and Tom, 30. Took an early retirement from AT&T in 2001, and worked for The Musculoskeletal Transplant Foundation in Edison as Records Manager for a few years. On a whim, we took a drive out to State College PA in 2005 and found a house that we loved in nearby Bellefonte. I left MTF,sold our house in Edison and packed up everything (1- 24 ft U-Haul towing a trailer with a 1968 VW Beetle that I had rebuilt for my son, 1-12 ft. U-haul, 1 Ford Explorer, and 1 Ford Focus, all fully packed with all of our stuff, and never looked back, it is so beautiful out here (thats why its called Happy Valley). I h...Expand for more
ad a few part time jobs out here, and officially retired for good December 2011. Both of my sons are married and live in the area,so we see them often, along with our 6 year old Grandson, Owen and his 18 month twin brothers Noah and Nicholas. My youngest son Tom has a 4 year old son Marcus..
Back in the mid 70's I built a 1972 Dodge Demon into an award winning show car, and I still enjoy playing with cars, as I currently have a 1951 Chevy Sedan Delivery hot rod that I've been tinkering with for the last 15 years or so (maybe I'll finish it some day), and my 1973 Harley that I bought new on Christmas eve 1972. I also like to re-finish old furniture, root for Penn State Football, and play with our 6 year old Beagle mix Benny. so I have lots of stuff to fill up my retirement time. I don't really get back to Rahway anymore, but I still keep in contact with fellow RHS alum. Jim Wagner.
