George's Story

Hello Friends !! This page was put together on the 27th of Ramadan, 1444h Ok, here's what happened next.... After FHHS, my path took me to the Academy of Aeronautics, which then landed me a job in Connecticut at a major defense contractor, where I am still employed to this day. For those who knew me, I still have not really changed as far as the person I was back then. I still maintain a B&W 35mm print film darkroom, I still love to paint, and I eventually built a full production recording studio, which I closed after rescuing a very special dog out of a very bad situation. I was also a volunteer firefighter for 12 years, I did wildlife rescue and river clean up work as a volunteer for 8 years, and during that timeframe, I became what one could describe as a very hardcore kayaker and free/skin diver. Most of my free time today is spent either in my meditation garden or in my home either studying from my extensive library of books or learning about different forms of middle eastern music. As far as relationships go, I was always known for being a very free spirit, but I was very briefly engaged back in 1995 to the poet Leslie Leeds, who sadly left this earth in early 1996 and I never recovered from this huge loss. I remained very close to her father who considered me his beloved son-in-law right up until his own passing, which marked the beginning of a very long spiritual quest in search for truth, which is still on-going. Regarding my professional life, when I first started at the plant, I was very proud of my work, but today my views have changed greatly as I have become more spiritual and see that the path that I did take perhaps might have been the wrong one, but then again, had I not taken this path, I would have never had the chance to rescue my dog, who in turn rescued me. I consider April 21st of 1982 to be the one defining moment in my life where everything changed after I was wheeled out from Bishop Ford CCHS never to return again. While at Ford, my trajectory was one of the arts, with a back up of electronics as a career path, but once I landed at FHHS that all changed, and with hindsight I often wonder if it was for the better. FHHS provided me with the guidance I needed to get the job done, and the classes such as Holocaust Studies deeply affect me to this day, and I am very appreciative that not only was I able to take this class, but that I also made a life long friend with a student I really liked named Delma Caban who I believe sat dire...Expand for more
ctly in front of me. For those who may remember me as both being a graffiti artist and having a very punk rock attitude and look, while today the look is long gone, the attitude still remains. My main thing today is connecting with our Mother Earth, and I still am very much about documenting our ecology, and how the impacts of Mankind are destroying our home, our planet Earth. I consider myself a very deeply spiritual person, whose path has taken them from being a Lutheran raised in a Catholic neighborhood, to walking away from all that for many years, to more recently returning to both Lutheran and Catholic faiths, then veering off into Judaism, which in turn brought me to Islam. If someone were to ask me who or what I follow, Gurdjieff might be the answer they would receive. However, if someone were to visit my garden, they would see a very curious mixture of Wicca/Celtic and Buddhist settings. Today, I think quite a bit about my time at FHHS, about the many students I had the chance to be friends with, those who I stayed in contact with, and even more importantly those who I lost contact with. They say when one lives life within their memories, they have become old, but I don't see it that way, I see it more as a person who is reflecting on a very rich life that they have had, and at the same time appreciate that they do not feel the need to go further. I am very lucky, I live in a home that I moved into in mid 1991 and purchased in early 1992, and have set up both inside and out in a manner that is 100% me. Not too many people can say that. I love that I live in a very small but diverse community and that I am always eager to help my neighbors whenever and however I possibly can, as it has always been my belief that a community where everyone pitches in is a healthy and happy place to be. If anyone who comes across this profile of mine is interested in getting a hold of me, or simply craves more food for thought, please feel free to contact me, as I could go on and on and on here, but life is short and I'd rather be playing with my now senior dog, as her life is completely dependent on the life which I am able to provide for her. Have a Gentle and Blessed Day, Anarchy Peace LOVE and Freedom.... George W and Loki the Dog xoxoxo PS: I've included some pictures taken over the years, they show where I was, where I am, and where I am going. They are in no particular order, although I tried to group them together in a way that would work well. Enjoy !!
