George's Story
My Father served 30 years on active duty, including a 2 ½ year tour at the Pinetree Radar Site with the family living in base housing at Ernest Harmon AFB. We arrived there in January 1964, and I enrolled at the High School as a Sophomore, having attended the Freshman and first half of that year at the High School in Pickstown, South Dakota, where my Father worked at the radar site. Turns out I was the very last graduating student from Harmon High (in more ways than one). Father was reassigned to another radar site in Hastings Nebraska and I ended up building and racing stock cars for one summer before enlisting. e Air Force and 15 in the military) spending my obligatory 3 tours in Southeast Asia, 3 in the Republic of Korea, and 5 in the Philippines. Retired in 1996 and worked as a consultant until turning 70, when I hung up my spurs. Married twice, divorced once. Linked back up with Michael (Flip) Reilly in the late ‘80’s & Jeff Bell and John Barchfeld in the early ‘90’s, and Jim Davidson in the early 2000’s, but no other classmates. Was never available to attend any of the reunions unfortunately. As the only employee of Honey-Do LLC these days, my primary duties consist of mowing the grass, shoveling snow, and walking the dog. gwhitak99 at gmail for anyone interested.
