George Jones:  

***Updated 2-8-2015*** George Carpenter was my name until I entered the Military in 1963, then I discovered it was legally "Jones" by my mother's first husband George Jones [my father] from Alabama. I left the military in 1966 after serving 3 years as a medic. In 1988 I went to work for Dolly Parton. I was The Mayor of her theme park Dollywood. I semi-retired in December 2000 after 12-years [14 seasons] following the death of my wife Becky of breast cancer in 1998. I returned to Alabama that same year. Following some ups and downs of life, I remarried in 2002 to a lovely bookkeeper for a local hospital. Between us we have five children and eight grand children, including a set of twins and two adopted Chinese children. Formally the police reporter for our local newspaper, here in Alabama, I was, also, the senior reporter, feature writer and chief photographer, until I retired in 2010.
