George's Story
After graduating from Crete-Monee H.S. I joined the Navy for a 6 year commitment as a CTM (communications technician maintenance) and repaired teletype machines along with crypto equipment. I served overseas stationed in the Philippines and Japan with a temporary assignment on the USS Hoel, DDG13.
After my military service I worked for 9 months at Rauland, a division of Zenith TV in Melrose Park, IL and then found employment at Teletype Corp. (using my military skills). onsin, Unemployment Insurance division and retired in July of 2008.
I am married to Vicky, another former State of Wisconsin employee and she had retired two years before me.
I have one adopted daughter from a previous marriage and she has lived in Japan since the age of 8 who I reconnected with in 2009 and have had the wonderful opportunity to visit her a few times in Japan. She came to visit me in 2019 along with her Japanese husband and her son.
I enjoy our home with Vicky and love to travel especially by riding my 2015 Indian Roadmaster motorcycle. Also enjoy woodworking and golf when the weather permits.
We also have been renting homes in Florida during the winter months in The Villages, FL for a number of years now, staying either 2 or 3 months each time.
