To show you how hard it is in show biz to separate th real from th unreal, after 1 perf in '06, i sat on a bench with some patrons hanging out after th show, & this normal-looking adult gal said to me, excitedly, with a huge crazy grin, "I can't believe I'm sitting right next to you!" I was out of costume w makeup off, but she thought i WAS Robert Crumb, that I'd come all th way from France to f'n Ft Worth to play myself onstage! (Lots of his fans came to th shows, of course.) rumb, I'm just a guy who is playing him. I'm just like you, just a fan of his & a fan of this theatre." Man, that was a weird moment; still worries me to think about it even now, almost 3 yrs later.
That kind of thing is reason enuf to avoid th show biz, regardless of the constant & indiscriminate mouth kissing going on backstage, which even a sober & generally reserved person like myself found was impossible to avoid!
