Gerald's Story
Left the seminary after one year at Niles College of Loyola University and graduated from Northern Illinois University (NIU) with a BS in Chemistry Ed. minor Mathematics and later MBA also from NIU. In addition, I hold a Certificate of Advanced Study in Corporate Governance and Leadership from The University of Notre Dame (IN), Mendoza School of Business. I was drafted and spent two years in flight operations with the 222nd Avn. Battalion. Married with 4 children and have spent most of my life in the Chemical industry with Olin, Ethyl, Albemarle, Vesicol and Nippon Paint. In the civic area, I was elected to two terms as a Trustee for the Village of Oak Brook and spent five years as the President of the Oak Brook Civic Association. hree multinational corporations. I have over 15 years in various international assignments. I retired from Nippon Paint Holdings as Vice President for Sales, Marketing, and Technology and a Corporate Officer where I was responsible for OEM non-metallic automotive & other transportation coatings in North America. Nippon paint is the third largest coating producer. At Imi-Tech (Albemarle Corporation subsidiary), a NASA spin off company, I was a VP, corporate officer and member of the Board of Directors where I introduced polyimide foam into commercial aircraft replacing fiberglass. Polyimide foam reduced weight and increased safety and is now the insulating material in all commercial aircraft. I coached traveling and AYSO boys and girls soccer for 18 years. We have a place in Vero Beach Florida where we will retire (eventually). I came out of retirement to work in the medical device industry. Hence, I still travel on business quite a lot in North America and would love to hear from classmates.
