Geri's Story

I've led an adventurous life. After going to UM for a year, I moved to Berkeley, California, where I attended UC during the marvelous 60's. Free speech, free love, great music, so much creativity. Definitely mind-expanding, even though I no longer espouse all the values we professed..... ;.) Although I was born and raised in MI, I was conceived in San Francisco, on Haight Street no less! The first time I went there, I knew it was where I belonged. Perhaps because I am a maverick by nature. I am fond of saying that in Michigan, I was considered radical, but when I got to Berkeley I was a moderate. Got a degree in math at UC Berkeley, then went to law school at UC Davis. Became a self-employed labor and employment arbitrator in 1977. Still doing that part time. My biggest case was the interest arbitration between American Airlines and their striking flight attendants, arranged by President Clinton. a, a bit of South America - not to mention Canada, Mexico and the Carribbean. Profile photo was taken June 2009, on safari in southern Africa. I became enchanted with Bali, and went there many times. Amazing place, though it's rapidly being destroyed by "development". In a few weeks, I am heading to Tasmania and thence to Melbourne and South Australia. I have one daughter, now 45, and three talented grandchildren. They attend a school for the arts in S. Calif. They are all not only straight-A students, but also great dancers/performers. My grandson Nikos, despite being only 10 years old, has already performed professionally in Evita, in the Nutcracker Ballet with the Anaheim Ballet, and with the American Ballet Theater. The eldest, Natasha, went to a Harvard summer session in 2009, at age 15. She's thinking about a career as a neurosurgeon. Shelby, now 14, will be attending the Alvin Ailey School of American Dance this summer (2010) in a pre-professional program. She was "totally" thrilled to be selected. I am on Facebook as Geri Randall.
